¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and Peking University strengthen relationship

Professor Michael Worton, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Vice-Provost (Academic & International), hosted a visit to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº by a senior delegation from Peking University last Friday to discuss developing the links between the two universities.

Professor Lin Jianhua, Executive Vice-President for Academic & International Relations at Peking University, was accompanied by his colleagues Mr Xiao Qun, Deputy Director, Office of Humanities & Social Sciences and Dr Ruqing Zheng, Assistant Director, Office of International Relations.

The delegation held wide-ranging discussions with ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff actively involved in existing links with Peking University, including Professor David Norse, who has been instrumental in furthering the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº/Peking collaboration to date in his capacity as Pro-Provost for China Hong Kong and Macao. Professor Moira Yip, who succeeds Professor David Norse as Pro-Provost for China, Hong Kong and Macao this week, also took part in discussions.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº has established projects with Peking University in the areas of Laws, Archaeology and Medicine. The International Centre for Chinese Heritage & Archaeology, which is managed jointly by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and Peking University, is a particularly significant area of the collaboration.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº academics and their guests discussed the advancement of the long-standing relationship between ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Laws and the Peking Law School. Professor John Martin of the Centre for Cardiovascular Biology & Medicine is to lead at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº on a joint research initiative in cardiovascular medicine. It is also hoped that a new collaboration in chemistry will be developed.
