31 May 2022

In this podcast we’ve got doctors in the house! Specifically, a medical general practitioner with a Doctorate in Education (EdD) and an IOE academic who’s also got an EdD - we’ll hear how they’ve been able to turn the research experience into real-world practice.

Professor Ann Griffin and Dr Adam Unwin, Research for the Real World podcast

Ann Griffin
Professor of Medical Education Research

Adam Unwin
Associate Professor

As a clinical professor in medical education and research director at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Medical School, Professor Ann Griffin is responsible for ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºMS’ leadership and strategic direction, particularly focusing on postgraduate medical education. She’s also a product of the IOE’s Doctorate in Education programme which also celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022.

Dr Adam Unwin is a module leader, tutor and supervisor on the EdD programme at IOE.

Our host Dr Laura Outhwaite talks to the pair about how the EdD caters for ‘situated learning’, ‘communities of practice’ and ‘insider research’ and its impact on careers and addressing key issues, in particular those affecting the medical profession during the Covid-19 pandemic.
