This module provides an introduction to advanced quantitative methods in psychology. You will learn how and when to use advanced research designs and statistical techniques to present empirical research. Topics may include experimental designs (laboratory, field, and natural), log-linear models, logistic regression, and path analysis. Examples will be drawn from many areas of developmental and educational psychology using social, cognitive and neuro-cognitive approaches. You will also learn data analytic skills using a variety of statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, R and JASP). This is an advanced module intended for students who have already had some training in quantitative methods for data analysis and, at a minimum, understand probability, hypothesis testing and linear regression.
