Description

In this module you will learn about different individual-centred approaches to supporting childhood听mental health. This includes relevant prevention and intervention approaches that might reduce the听likelihood of mental health difficulties developing or help support children and adolescents听experiencing common mental health difficulties. Learning will include a focus on evidence based听models of therapeutic interventions, spanning cognitive behavioural, mentalization, psychoanalytic,听and systemic approaches to supporting children experiencing mental health difficulties. The module听will also include teaching on the latest developments in digital approaches to mental health.
You will learn about theories and research underpinning different therapeutic approaches to听intervention and prevention, and the commonalities and differences these approaches in how they听formulate and address child mental health. Across the module considerations of culture and context听will also be discussed.
During the module there will also be some discussion of how decisions are made around different听treatment approaches, related to the strengths and limitations of the evidence-base.
