Description

This module aims to provide the students with a theoretical understanding and illustrate and demonstrate practical application of the major methodologies used to study neuronal circuits in health and disease.

The course is arranged in three sub-modules, each of which consists of two 1-hour lectures and a 4-hour experimental demonstration session at the research laboratories of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy in ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Queen Square Institute of Neurology. The covered topics are:

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Intracellular electrophysiological recordings: from ion channels to spiking activity.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Imaging synaptic and network activity with one or two photons.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Extracellular electrophysiological recordings and optogenetic manipulation of neuronal network activity.
