The module is structured so that in Term 3 and through to the end of the course, students take their thesis project to a final high level of resolution. This is a continuation of Architectural Design Thesis Initial Projects.

Taking this module should help students develop innovative architectural concepts; facilitate the manipulation of these concepts and place the concepts in a design context.

The module will encourage the physical fabrication of designed elements where appropriate and support presentation of work by students in a seminar/crit setting as well as preparing them for the final portfolio review and examination.

On successful completion of the course, each student will gain an advanced understanding of, and significant abilities in:
• Graduate level ways of working.
• Understanding of innovative architectural concepts.
• Understanding of and skill in manipulating these concepts in a
design context.
• Understanding of and skill in physical fabrication of designed
elements where appropriate.
• Skill in presentation techniques in a seminar/crit setting and in
portfolio preparation.
• Using a range of creative communication methods and media,
deploying multimedia and written/graphic skills.
• Referencing the work of others.
• Managing a project and working in a team

Students will continue working on their Design Thesis in order to submit it in September. Intensive tutorials and seminars will continue in Term 3 and throughout the summer. There is a major public crit (open jury) at the start of July when the final feedback is given. Once students have submitted their design thesis they will then start work on their exhibition. The exhibition opens at the end of September to coincide with the exam board and is used to showcase their work undertaken in this module.
