Description

The progression of a candidate molecule into clinical development depends on detailed understanding of the factors that determine the treatment response and variability in humans. This module provides insight into the relationship between drug delivery, pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), homeostasis, disease progression and treatment outcome.

Focus is given to PKPD relationships as the pharmacological basis for dose and patient selection during clinical development and therapeutic evaluation of novel medicines. In addition, quantitative pharmacology methods are introduced as a tool for translational research and dosing recommendation in patients. These concepts are applied to clinical drug development case studies in experimental and computer labs.
