Description

The module introduces frameworks to understand corporate information systems and inform decision-making. It presents the challenges of information flows and the extraction of actionable business intelligence to manage human resources and organisational functions. The interfaces between digital and physical will be explored building upon recent technological advancements (e.g. digital twin, artificial intelligence, machine learning). In particular, the connections between the systems and the organisational structures will be explored, emphasising the often dysfunctional relationship between them, which ultimately leads to bottlenecks and decrease in productivity.

The module aims to provide an understanding of different information management systems used in major infrastructure projects, their interoperability, and limitations. Digital technologies are changing the way organisations make decisions, this module explores how different types of data can be used to inform decision-making by different functions.
