Description

This module will comprise of important concepts in the area of chemical sustainability split into 3 key themes (topics), highlighting key contemporary concepts. A topic will be taught through flipped (recorded) lectures, on-line activities, reading, and problem classes (workshops). Three topics will be available in each of the following areas many of which will be interdisciplinary in
nature:

Indicative Topics:
CS1 - Green chemistry- principles and applications, examples from photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, solid phase catalysis.
CS2 – Biocatalysis/synthetic biology approaches in sustainable synthesis.
CS3 – The use of biomass and sustainable industrial processes.

This module will provide you with the generic theoretical concepts in setting the aims and planning for your extended advanced research project. Directed reading of recommended texts and scientific literature - peer reviewed publications will be provided.
