Description

Course and Curriculum Design in Medical Education is an introduction to the theories and models and the practical and political considerations in curriculum design. This includes analysing factors contributing to the differences between the planned, taught and learned curriculum and the importance of assessment methods in curricula.

After taking this module, you should be able to consider the various components which make up a curriculum and identify different theoretical and philosophical approaches to the development of a curriculum. You will be able to recognise the importance of assessment methods in aligning hidden and intended curricula and addressing barriers to learning, while considering the impact of external agencies on the content and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate medical curricula.

This module is assessed through a 3000 word coursework assignment carrying 100% of the final mark.
