Description

Term 3, 4 Students investigate the initial proposals that were put forward in BARC0059 subjecting them to a critical analysis, which can include theoretical fulfillment, status of materials, scope for innovation, ease of fabrication, functional, structural and environmental performance, sustainability and visual performance. New proposals are put forward as drawings and fabrications in an iterative process with the aim of generating a finished elegant final piece as conclusive evidence of their research and development in design for manufacture, including the finishing of made work. As a key technical requirement of manufacturing, specification of industrial finishing standards must be demonstrated. In addition, in the final project students must demonstrate understanding in their own agency in the process of design for manufacture as well as understanding the needs they serve.
