Description

In this module you will work on a case study based on a healthcare challenge requiring digital transformation. Case-studies will be devised in conjunction with NHS partners and will guide you through understanding the current status of the area, understanding what is possible and devising and communicating a strategy for digital transformation. This module will cover qualitative and quantitative research methods.

At the end of this module you will:
1. Understand information governance, and issues of privacy and confidentiality.
2. Understand the technical and social aspects of informatics.
3. Discuss methods and techniques for requirements gathering, design and user-centred evaluation and testing relevant for health systems and technologies, understanding their strengths and limitations.
4. Understand the theories of behavioural change and interaction.
5. Understand the organisational and human factor challenges to effective use of health information systems and technologies.

The module is an optional module on the MSc/PG Dip/PG Cert in Health Informatics and the MSc Health Data Science programme at The University of Manchester only.

The module is delivered through web-based distance learning in the UoM Virtual Learning Environment plus a 3-day face-to-face teaching session at the University of Manchester campus.
