Description

Module Content

The dissertation requires students to carry out independent research under supervision. The topic can be in any area of Linguistics, but should allow the student to draw on material that was covered in the modules taken, so that the research can achieve sufficient depth and the student can show evidence of their growing mastery of the subject area.

Teaching Delivery

Several one or two hour workshops will be arranged over the course of the academic year.

Indicative Topics

Indicative lecture topics are based on module content in 2023/24, subject to possible changes.

Students write a dissertation on a topic within the area of linguistics.

Module aims:

- To formulate a viable research question

- To identify gaps in knowledge in the field and potential ways to fill those gaps
