Description
The managerial economics element of the module introduces microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts in business and management context. The managerial economics element provides a firm understanding of microeconomic concepts including consumer behaviour and demand, producer behaviour and supply, competitive market and monopoly, and game theory and competitive strategy. The managerial economics element also provides a firm understanding of macroeconomic concepts including world economy, the role of capital, and total factor productivity as well as inflation, money, credit, and banking. The aim of the managerial economics element is to teach students ways of thinking in economic terms so that they are able to subject commercial phenomena to economic analysis.
This Chinese economic development element reviews China's economic growth from a historical perspective and focuses on economic decentralisation and its impacts as well as the export-led growth model. The prospects for China's future growth are also covered. After examining the history of China's economic ascent and the institutional foundations of China's economic growth, students will be able to meaningfully discuss the issues surrounding China's growth model.
