Description

This research project module involves an independent piece of research in mental health, suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, carried out under supervision. The project may be derived from any areas from psychiatry or the psychology of mental health and be based on any method, including biological, epidemiological, applied clinical and qualitative investigations. Existing data sets may form the basis of the paper, provided the student uses the data to investigate an original research question, involving substantial analyses. A systematic literature review (and where appropriate a meta-analysis) may also be conducted. The aim of the module is to enable the students to develop skills in defining research questions, identifying suitable research methods and analysing and interpreting research data. Students will also evaluate on a conference-style presentation of their research and a blog post communicating their work to the general public. Students will be allocated two supervisors and progress will be overseen by the Programme Director and individual tutor.
