This module is designed to give you a thorough grasp of the main theories, accounting tools, methods and techniques of financial management. 听This approach includes the development of a critical understanding of the advantages, limitations and typical applications of each major method or technique in terms of financial and accounting practice. 听You will be encouraged to develop critical analysis and evaluation skills for financial management problems and issues.
Moreover you will gain an appreciation of the role of financial information within an organisation. 听This will include an identification of approaches to financial and accounting data generation, data manipulation, data assessment, analysis and dissemination.
There will also be a week devoted to the regulatory frameworks that accounting and financial decision making takes place in terms of healthcare policy and practice. 听Understanding the constraints as well as opportunities in different health systems will be a key aspect of this section of the module.
This module involves online preparation and reading prior to a four week block:
Week 1 鈥� Accounting and Financial Reporting
Week 2 鈥� Corporate Finance
Week 3 鈥� Healthcare policy and practice
Week 4 鈥� Wrap up听
Wrap up week is dedicated to engaging with health professionals who work in the various themed areas that you have been discussing and evaluating over the previous three weeks. 听They will take you through real world case studies that solidify the application of these themes to health and healthcare.
