Description

‘Healthcare and Intervention Delivery’ is designed to provide you with a knowledge base in the provision and delivery of health care. During this module, you will cover topics such as the psychology of the Public Health Crisis, health economics, telehealth, the impact of screening, theory and reflection on observation of consultation in doctor-patient communication, medical decision-making, working with a specialist hospital population, motivational interviewing, behaviour change interventions, as well as managing change and leadership.

By the end of the module, you should have developed an understanding of

  1. the structure and operation of different health care systems, including the NHS
  2. managing change and leadership
  3. health economics
  4. issues around medical decision-making
  5. models of doctor-patient communication
  6. the impact of hospitalisation, stressful hospital procedures and screening
  7. developments that will impact on delivery of healthcare in the future, such as telehealth and genetics

This module is compulsory for all students in MSc Health Psychology. Spaces are limited to 60.

You will attend a series of lectures as well as one half-day observation of consultations between healthcare professionals and patients.
