Description

The principal aim of the Infrastructure Policy, Planning and Consent module is to provide an understanding of policy, planning and consenting procedures for infrastructure projects and programmes. The module also examines the key trends, issues and challenges that contribute to shaping planning practice, including globalisation, privatisation and liberalisation, austerity, devolution and multi-level governance, sustainable development and growing environmental concerns. While the focus of the module is on the UK infrastructure planning system and the main changes to the planning and consenting regime introduced by the Planning Act 2008, several other countries and contexts are also analysed and discussed.
