Description

The delivery of content and information online is becoming increasingly dynamic and device-driven. This module reviews the history of theÌýinternet and of the web, introduces students to the concepts of markupÌýfor web pages, website structuring and design, and the issues involvedÌýin generating, delivering and evaluating content effectively. TopicsÌýinclude the design, construction and delivery of valid online content;Ìýbest practice and standards for technical, accessibility and usabilityÌýissues; information architecture and user experience; and emergingÌýtechnologies on the web.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, students will:

  • have an understanding of how content can beÌýported across different online environments thorough adherence to Ìýstandards
  • be able to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of websiteÌýdesign and implementation, especially with regard to usability and accessibility for different audiences
  • have a practicalÌýunderstanding of the real-world applications of content covered in theÌýmodule
