Description

The delivery of content and information online is becoming increasingly dynamic and device-driven. This module reviews the history of the听internet and of the web, introduces students to the concepts of markup听for web pages, website structuring and design, and the issues involved听in generating, delivering and evaluating content effectively. Topics听include the design, construction and delivery of valid online content;听best practice and standards for technical, accessibility and usability听issues; information architecture and user experience; and emerging听technologies on the web.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, students will:

  • have an understanding of how content can be听ported across different online environments thorough adherence to 听standards
  • be able to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of website听design and implementation, especially with regard to usability and accessibility for different audiences
  • have a practical听understanding of the real-world applications of content covered in the听module
