Description

This module will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to the economic principles behind the supply, use and conservation of key natural resources. It focuses on how the supply and demand are influenced by economic conditions, economic instruments, policies and governance factors. It includes a theoretical foundation of resource economics, with examples, through case studies, of how different factors affect resource availability and prices. It also considers the role of governance, law and international institutions.

Including the following contents but not limited to

  • Economics of welfare, climate change, renewable and non-renewable resources.
  • Economics of forest, mining, agriculture, land and water resources.
  • The political economy of extractive industries.
