Description

Children and Young Peoples Mental Health (CYPMH) and Wellbeing Services are going through an ambitious change. This step-change in provision comes from a recognition that systems transformation is needed if CYPMH services are to meet the growing demand. The transformation programmes are driven by a series of government policies and reports into CYPMH and wellbeing services. These include:

  • the recent Green Paper setting out the ambition to establish mental health support teams within schools and creating a new workforce of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs)
  • the development of Child Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) set out in the Five Year Forward View, and
  • Future in Mind (FiM) which enshrined the principles of the CYP IAPT programme

These are not simply training programmes to improve the competence of front-line practitioners but are an ambitious service transformation programme involving systems change across the whole of CYPMH and Wellbeing services. These changes require skilled and dedicated leadership at all levels of the system to implement the transformation.

This course is for CYPMH and Wellbeing leaders and mangers across health, social care, and education within the NHS, schools, others statutory and third sectors. This focus of the course is to provide leaders and managers with an effective learning environment and toolkit by which to deliver their service change and transformations objectives. The course will benefit anyone in a leadership role implementing change in CYPMH and Wellbeing provision including:

  • Senior school staff involved in the EMHP and Mental Health Teams in schools,
  • Clinical Leads in NHS CAMHS implementing CYP IAPT and/or the CWP programme
  • Commissioners and Social Care leads who are driving service transformation
  • Managers and Senior Clinicians in CYPMH & Wellbeing charities and third sector organisations
