Description

Malnutrition - an all-inclusive term that represents all manifestations of poor nutrition, is a grand challenge not only in developing but also in developed countries. Malnutrition in the Community will give you an advanced, evidence-based investigation into malnutrition. After taking this module you would be expected to know and understand the:

1. Prevalence of community malnutrition and its many determinants.
2. Clinical, social and environmental context of malnutrition.


Indicative lecture topics:

Homelessness and Food banks
Alcohol and Malnutrition
Commissioning Nutrition and Hydration Services in the Community
Digital Health Programmes
Settings-based Interventions

As well as lectures, you will examine food provision and nutritional status across different community settings. The module assessment will comprise an Oral Presentation (20%) and 2,000 word Report (80%) using the evidence covered in the lectures and community settings. The module is compulsory for students on the MSc Clinical and Public Health Nutrition and MSc Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition degrees.
