Description

This five-day CPD short course, developed by the Centre for Global City Policing (an independent research institute based in 果冻影院鈥檚 world-leading Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science) and 果冻影院鈥檚 School of Management, aims to help police managers lead modern police organisations in a complex and fast-changing operational environment. Inspired by 果冻影院鈥檚 200-year history of research excellence, the course draws on management and leadership lessons from the private and public sectors to equip students to solve operational challenges and impact real-world policing problems.

Programme leader Professor Jyoti Belur, a former senior police officer, explains what makes the course so distinct: 鈥淭his course is aimed at police professionals wishing to become future leaders and managers with a focus on providing an evidence-based approach to improve practical policing.鈥 The course content includes interactive sessions by chief police officers, government officials and world-leading academics. Core topics studied include contemporary leadership styles and developing highly performing teams; target setting and performance management; rewards and recognition; operational risk management; decision-making; managing innovation; organisational and team dynamics; and data-driven leadership.

The course is designed for UK and international police officers and police staff. Previous feedback from delegates has been excellent. For example, 鈥淚 wish I had this course when I was a Sergeant starting out.鈥; 鈥淩eally well thought out鈥攁 good balance between team participation, discussion and lectures. Excellent five days.鈥; "I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the course content, location, variety of speakers and interaction with other delegates.鈥
