Description

This module (50% of the MSc) provides hands-on research experience within a skilled and supportive environment. You will join a research active group working within the fields of regenerative medicine or nanotechnology to complete original laboratory-based research, clinical-based research, data analysis, or modelling.

Students will choose their projects from a wide variety of research areas including (but not exclusively); 1) tissue engineering (e.g. bone, muscle, nerve or cartilage tissue engineering, whole organ engineering using decellularised scaffolds), 2) in vitro disease modelling, 3) nanomedicine (e.g. enhanced radiotherapy using nanoparticles, targeted nanoparticles, photodynamic therapy), 4) improved medical devices (3D printing scaffolds, auricular regeneration, improved orthopaedic implants, chronic wound healing) and 5) stem cell therapy (improving stem cell survival, IPS cells for in vitro disease modelling).

You will improve your scientific communication (written and verbal) and your critical evaluation of research.
