Description

This component will provide the opportunity for the student to carry out an in-depth, substantial project in a chosen area. A list of project proposals will be posted in the second term so that students have an early opportunity to discuss various topics with suitable supervisors. The student will select a topic during the 2nd term and discuss and outline plan with the supervisor. The supervisor will provide the initial background material and then instruct the student on the best way to approach the literature and other further background research. The student will have regular meetings with the supervisor who will provide general guidance on how to apply known and new techniques to the chosen problem. Projects topics will vary depending upon the interests of the supervising staff but should normally come from the areas encompassed by the programme.
