Description

This module will look at important networks in early work, liaising between health visitors, GP, therapists, nurseries, social workers, child psychotherapists, parent-infant psychotherapists etc. The module will introduce students to the ways different professionals approach work with parents and babies in the early years and the importance of developing and maintaining communication between professionals. The module will also include discussion of some of the challenges and approaches used when working with families. Students will hear about the importance of fathers in children’s development, diversity in children’s environment including culture, family structure, caregiver roles, and some of the difficulties faced by adoptive, foster, single-parent, blended families and young parents.
