Description

The aim of the module is to guide students to design and plan their own pilot plant study and then execute the project by training and supervising a group of UG/PG students over a week. In addition students on this course will assess the outcome in terms of research aims and supervisees’ learning. The module is designed to build upon the experiences of Pilot Plant Unit Operations course. In this module students, working in small groups, will plan, manage and execute their own pilot plant study, providing a unique opportunity for large scale verification of data and for supervision of and UG/PG group.

Upon completion of the course, a student should be able to:

  • Plan a week-long original research project involving one or more unit operations at scale;
  • Organize research as well as training activities for the UG/PG group;
  • Be confident in executing the project, in collaboration with the designed UG/PG group;
  • Report on the project aims and how these were met both in terms of research objectives and students (UG/PG) learning.
