Description

This module explores the 'real-world' world of preventing and disrupting organised crime and terrorism. The aim of this module is to encourage you to think scientifically and critically analyse the key conceptual features of strategies and methods relating to preventing and disrupting of organised crime and terrorism. The module will provide you with a robust, wide-reaching and nuanced understanding of prevention and disruption techniques, their theories and applications. You will focus in particular on the following approaches: situational crime prevention; economic and legal responses; military and paramilitary interventions; and community and partnership approaches. You will be exposed to key case studies, a range of empirical evidence and diverse theoretical, legal, ethical and practical considerations. Uniquely, you will also get the opportunity to engage with a range of real-world practitioners and subject matter experts. You will engage with different perspectives and disciplinary contributions and learn about the key aspects of the design, implementation and evaluation of counter-measures in this field.Ìý
