Description

This module introduces the theory and practical elements of product development and prototyping. It is structured to provide a deeper understanding of how product development takes place within new ventures and established enterprises.

Covering both product and service development, across physical and digital domains, the module covers the strategies, processes, tools and techniques to research, ideate, design, prototype and validate new propositions. Designed to be immediately practical, it examines different stages of product development, from the product idea to eventual launch, and draws from a diverse range of industries and settings.

The module combines interactive lectures, workshops, and group exercises alongside external speakers sharing their experiences and challenges.
You will be taken through the practical processes and industry tools to exit the course with the knowhow on how to build & launch a software product.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

- Explain and evaluate different approaches to product and service development.
- Shape ideas into products that generate value for the customer and organisation.
- Use different techniques to rapidly ideate, design, test, and iterate new products and services.
- Understand the principles, complexities, constraints and implications of developing new products and services.
- Learn the basics of building a live software product using industry standard tools
