Description

This module provides a grounding in project management, aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge.

In this course, you will be introduced to the essential aspects of projects and the processes used to manage them successfully. This covers the typical organisational context of projects, the detailed planning required to initiate and control them, and some aspects of the 鈥渟oft skills鈥 dimensions such as leadership and teamwork.

In addition to the formal sessions, you will undertake a series of linked exercises, some of these in small groups, to begin practicing the skills and techniques. The course is assessed through an individual assignment and an exam.

At the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of essential definitions, and the roles of a project鈥檚 main participants.
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of key project management tools and techniques.
  • Create a project management plan for a moderately complex project.
  • Prepare to help lead or manage a team to deliver such a project.

The course is aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge, and the teaching materials are in many cases identical to those used in 果冻影院鈥檚 CPD course in Project Management leading to APM鈥檚 PMQ qualification. If you wish to obtain either this or another APM qualification, then this module will be an excellent preparatory step.
