Description

Research Methods is a Doctoral Training Programme module that engages STEaPP doctoral candidates in conceptual and practical learning around research design and methodological judgement. DTP candidates participate in weekly classes exploring over thirty different methods used in analysis for policy. These data collection and analysis methods cover a range of policy research and analysis activities: defining the policy problem requirements; understanding system behaviour; exploring options; analysing risk; informing action; and communicating insight.

In addition to introduction of specific methods, research design and methodological development of doctoral candidates will be deepened with four ‘Reflexive Practitioner’ seminars. Under four headings, these seminars cover a range of critical topics: Ethics; Modelling; Interdisciplinarity; and Research in Practice.
