Description

You will engage in a wider research project carried out at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and assigned a project supervisor; through pursuing your chosen project, you will gain in-depth knowledge, understanding and practical experience of your chosen research topic area. If you choose to undertake a research project that requires you to be present in a clinical setting, you will need to prove, as part of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº occupational health checks, that you have been vaccinated against Covid-19. You will not be able to undertake a project that requires contact with patients in a clinical setting if you have not been vaccinated.

This module entails the completion of a dissertation on an area of research that you have chosen to study that is compatible with your programme of study (either by picking from a list of topics or through networking with academics at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº). Your research project must involve collection/analysis of data (in some cases you can carry out a systematic review with meta analysis)

By the end of this module, students will have demonstrated the ability to:
• Describe, synthesise and critique scientific literature relevant to project.
• Formulate unique research question(s) with justified aims/hypotheses.
• Develop and apply appropriate research methodology to answer research question(s).
• Describe methods and report results clearly.
• Appraise and discuss findings in relation to wider literature.
• Evaluate limitations of own work and formulate next steps.
• Demonstrate effective academic writing skills.
