Description

This module introduces key concepts relating to risk, decision making in situations of high uncertainty, and the factors that determine system resilience. The module covers the human dimension of how choices are made (including psychological traps and team dynamics), and the relationship betweenÌýriskÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýmarginÌýis examined. The human dimension is further explored regarding its contribution to successful systems, including that of human factors in HMI/HCI design and the role of humans as bothÌýoperatorsÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýpartsÌýof systems. FailureÌýavoidanceÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýtoleranceÌýare investigated through different tools and techniques, together with the contribution of different systemÌýviewpointsÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýclassifications. Key terminology such as systemÌýreliabilityÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýavailabilityÌýare discussed, alongside their relationship withÌý±ç³Ü²¹±ô¾±³Ù²âÌý²¹²Ô»åÌývalueÌý±ð²Ô²µ¾±²Ô±ð±ð°ù¾±²Ô²µ.
