Description

This course examines thematic and formal developments in Spanish filmmaking from the late 1990s, focusing on issues such as family, gender, migration, racism, queer identities, social problems, national identity, genre, and the increasing globalisation of the Spanish film industry. There will be five lectures and five seminars structured around five films. Lectures will be given each alternate week and there will be seminar discussions the week after each lecture. Each follow-up seminar will consist of informal, 10-minute student presentations on a set text, which will serve as preparation for the essay.鈥
