Description

The Spatial Cultures module is a theoretically-based module that introduces a series of key thinkers and important concepts intended to provide students with the theoretical basis for researching the relationship between society and space - with an emphasis on the urban scale. It draws on theoretical perspectives from a range of disciplinary domains, particularly from the humanities and social sciences, and explores the contribution each has to make to understanding society from an architectural perspective. It also turns the tables on these other perspectives to ask why is it that the organisation of built form is so often overlooked in the social theory of space.
