Description

Business module, compulsory for students on MSc of Telecommunications with Business

This module examines the environment in which ICT and telecommunications businesses operate and develops an understanding of strategic and business planning.

The syllabus covers:

  • Macro Economic Models and analysis (We explore some generic models of Global and UK economies; the dynamics of economic change and the relevance to ICT and telecommunications.);
  • Strategy and the business Environment (A look at Business tools for strategy development and business planning; we explore current strategic issues and their impact on the corporate strategies of network and ICT operators.);
  • Principles of Marketing and Product Management (The generic principles of marketing, including marketing intelligence, segmentation and targeting. Product and portfolio management, pricing, competition analysis and competitive positioning
  • ICT Services, today and tomorrow (An examination of today’s services (e.g.Internet, e-commerce and entertainment. A review of the main strategic, economic and competitive issues confronting the global communications industry)
