Content: This module will enable students to apply relevant theory learnt in the Supervision Theory and Context module to support their supervisory practices within a relevant work-based learning environment. Students will be supported to make links between theory and practice to better support trainees under their supervision, guiding them to undertake and manage their caseloads using evidence-based therapeutic models and routine outcome measures.

Teaching delivery: Teaching days are a combination of both in-person and online sessions. Lectures and skills-based workshops form the core teaching, and these are developed further in Practice Tutor Groups (PTGs). Students are expected to video record their supervision sessions and share these as part of small group learning and reflective practice.

Module Aims and/or Objectives:

• Develop competency in supervising CYP MH trainees and supervisees
• Be able to describe the supervision competencies outlined by Roth & Pilling (2007) /pals/sites/pals/files/background_document_supervision_competences_july_2015.pdf
• Demonstrate practical understanding in the application of clinical supervision competencies
• Develop an awareness of working with power and difference, within an EDI contact (equity, diversity and inclusion)
• Develop sustainable supervision skills in supervising in order to drive the ongoing development of quality driven, outcomes informed services
• To develop skills in working with social difference in supervisory role and wider service context and fostering this skill in others.
• Understand the theory and practice of disseminating the model of supervision using the fundamental principles of Evidence-based Practice; Increasing service user participation; Increasing accessibility of services; Increasing awareness of MH problems in CYP; and Accountability in practice using routine outcome measures
• To develop reflective skills in own supervisory practice.
