Description

Module Content

Guided, critical reading and discussion of selected literature in syntax, aimed at honing theoretical and research skills and fostering original research.

Teaching Delivery

Teaching consists of about five weekly sessions in which relevant literature is presented, followed by sessions in which students take the lead and present results from their own research.

Indicative Topics

Specific topics vary from year to year, depending on current research in the department. Past topics include the OV/VO parameter, the syntax of coordination, and sluicing.

Module Aims and/or Objectives

By the end of the module, the students will have had an advanced introduction into a specific syntactic problem and willl have carried out individual research.
