Description

The content of this module explores ESOL theories and frameworks. This module has been developed for an international cohort. It will provide the theoretical foundations to enable further study in the field for students with little or no experience of classroom teaching.

In this module you will be:

  • Exploring and critically evaluating theoretical and research literature related to adult language and literacy acquisition and development
  • Examining critically the methodologies, approaches and techniques derived from these theories
  • Examining the impact of new technologies on the nature of language processes and pedagogies
  • Analysing the processes involved in reading writing, speaking and listening and how this impacts on teaching
  • Applying linguistic knowledge to developing reading and writing, speaking and listening skills at text, sentence and word level
  • Applying accepted educational research methods to evaluate a theory of language or literacy acquisition
