Description

This module aims to help students think strategically about technology and to give them the knowledge and skills necessary for technology innovation, planning and exploitation in a dynamic business environment. This includes discussion of key technological influences as well as ways of understanding the lifecycle of technology. The module includes an introduction to technology, IT concepts and architectures, and technology design, with key concepts in modern technology. Management of knowledge and technology maturity, technology lifecycles, technology transfer and standards are also covered. The module also explores scenario planning, technology forecasting and roadmapping, and how to use technology to achieve the strategic objectives for an organisation. This is achieved through a combination of interactive lectures and case studies where the taught principles are applied.
