Description

The module examines the housing development process to highlight the economic concepts and financing options and criteria that constrain housing development. Discussions will cover an overview of housing development, housing development cycles, the housing market, market analysis, housing development financing and appraisal of housing development through ten two-hour lectures delivered by the module coordinator and, where possible, guest speakers. Furthermore the class is divided into two tutorial/seminar groups that meet at alternate weeks for four optional one-hour tutorial/discussion sections facilitated by the module coordinator over ten weeks. By completing the module, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to identify new housing market opportunities and structure a development financing package that maximises the developer’s objectives.
