Description

Module Description

This module introduces you to the main issues that have been discussed by scholars in the field of audiovisual translation (AVT) and their impact on research and the industry. Key writings and topics on the field are examined with the aim of situating AVT as a discipline in its socio-historical context. Topics to be covered include ideological manipulation, censorship, gender issues, humour, cultural references, multilingualism, crowdsourcing, activism, fansubbing/fandubbing, technological developments and corpus linguistics approaches applied to AVT.
