Description

Aims

The aim of this module is to allow students to further develop the skills required to undertake and deliver high quality research. This includes gaining experience in literature surveys and developing their writing, presentation and group working skills. The module also aims to increase understanding of Responsible Research and Innovation with respect to new research and technology.

At the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Critically assess the available literature and identify papers that best describe a research area.
  • Construct and deliver an oral presentation for a scientific audience.
  • Present a research topic using a poster presentation to individuals and a group, and answer questions about their research.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the concepts and framework of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) within the science discipline and apply this to problem-based scenarios.
  • Work effectively alone and in groups.

Assessment

This module does not contain a summative assessment. The module is only passed if the student have completed all formative assessments.
