Description

Overview

The module is divided in to two parts: Vibrations and Acoustics

Topics covered in vibrations include:

  • Introduction to vibrations
  • Free and forced vibration of single degree of freedom systems
  • Transient response of single degree of freedom systems
  • Unforced multi degree of free systems, matrix notation
  • Energy methods
  • Harmonic force applied to a multi degree of freedom system
  • Vibration in continuous systems

Topics covered in acoustics include:

  • Introduction to Acoustics
  • Propagation of sound waves in solids and fluids
  • Interaction between vibrating structures and sound
  • Propagation through partitions
  • Sound in an enclosure
  • Introduction to underwater acoustics
