Description

Students will work with a cultural institution to develop a mutually beneficial project that enhances the skills and practice acquired so far in the context of the MSc in Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media. Students will prepare for their placements during the Summer and undertake this work placement module on Term 1 of the second year of the MSc. Students must have completed the module Advanced Seminar in Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media, which introduces students to the dynamics of working in cultural institutions.Ìý

This work placement module will uniquely prepare students for workplace contexts while promoting their transversal and practical conservation skills. The module will be assessed through the completion of a project appropriate for the placement, a report reflecting on their work experience, and an oral presentation. Subject to the agreement of placement organisations, students might also extend their placements to their dissertations.Ìý

Note: students who are already working within a conservation setting or institution will be able to undertake this module in their workplace setting through supervision by a member of the academic staff of the Department of History of Art with input and advice from the students' workplace line manager.Ìý
