Members of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº community interested in or working with the web at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº have an excellent opportunity to keep informed of the latest developments in centrally provided web services at the next ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Web Forum on 26 March 2003.

Professor Susan Hockey, Director of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's School of Library, Archive & Information Studies

Topics to be covered include XML, My SQL/PHP and the availability of the '¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Online' templates and related support for departmental use.

Professor Susan Hockey, Director of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's School of Library, Archive & Information Studies, is one of the world's leading experts in the field of electronic text technology. Spearheading the development of innovative computer tools to allow access to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's digital library archives, Professor Hockey will deliver an introduction to XML and its implications for content creation, management and delivery.

Mr Jack Levy (Information Systems) will present an introduction to the development of a new scripting and database service (PHP/MySQL), that enables the creation of dynamic web pages at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

'¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Online' templates for use in a departmental context will be explained by Mr Neil Martin and Mr Jeremy Speller (Web Unit).
