NeuroDelta aims to develop and commercialise novel small molecule drugs and diagnostic reagents that address neurological disorders, cancer, cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases. Dr Milton collected the top prize of £5,000 from ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Provost Sir Derek Roberts at the award ceremony in March 2003.

Two runner-up prizes of £3,000 were awarded to Wheelion, a manufacturer of advanced carbon fibre wheelchairs, and afterGrad, a graduate recruitment company.

More than 170 entries were registered for the competition from ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and the London Business School. The eight finalists that were selected had to present their propositions to a panel of judges consisting of experts in venture capital, banking, start-ups and law.

Competition judge Mr Robin Daniels, of the Centre for Scientific Enterprise, said: "The ideas are more than the output of an academic process - ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº evidently offers much more than that. Some of these teams stand a real chance of turning their ideas into businesses. These are certainly people to look out for."
