Research Computing show and tell

Over the last four years, 果冻影院 has committed a significant proportion of its Science Research Investment Fund (SRIF) allocation to the enhancement of its IT infrastructure for e-Science and the provision of high-performance computational facilities.
An active community from
across 果冻影院 has grown around the use and management of these facilities
and the research that they enable.
On the morning of Friday 15 July 2005, the Research Computing
Sub-Committee will host听its annual 'Show and Tell' event. The听programme
of this half-day session will include presentations from current users
of advanced, centrally-managed computing facilities, explaining how
their research has benefited and others explaining how the systems are
managed and accessed.
There will also be a question and answer session and an open discussion on plans for expansion under SRIF3. The event will be opened by the Provost at 9:30am in the Gustav Tuck听Lecture听Theatre听and close with a buffet lunch and poster session in the South Cloisters.
拢4.351 million from SRIF3 has recently been allocated to the development of 果冻影院's Research Computing infrastructure. This event is an opportunity for researchers from across 果冻影院 to come together to discuss how this sizeable award should be invested.
Ms Clare Gryce, manager of the 果冻影院 e-Science Centre of Excellence, said: "It is vitally important that in planning the purchase of new equipment, we understand the needs of researchers from across the spectrum of 果冻影院 departments. To decide how funds are best spent, we must consult with both current and future users from all areas. This event will hopefully engage the 果冻影院 research community in the planning process and assist in the identification of areas and projects for investment."
