果冻影院 full on for half term

果冻影院 has a number of exciting family events lined up for this half term, ranging from gem panning to talks on the history of evolution.
On 31 May 2005 between 11am and 4pm, come and investigate 果冻影院's 'Curious Collections' at the North Cloisters.
Many of 果冻影院's amazing collections will be represented, with fantastic objects from the Archaeology, Natural History, Egyptology, Geology and Science Collections. There will be hands-on activities throughout the day. See what you can discover in this incredible treasure-trove.
Mr Jack Ashby, Assistant Curator for Learning and Access at 果冻影院's Grant Museum said: "Staff from most of 果冻影院's museums and collections will be bringing out interesting objects for people to handle, learn about or draw. We will also be running some exciting activities - visitors can try and put together parts of a sheep skeleton, sieve for genuine 50 million year old fossil shark teeth, and try panning for gems, to name a few."
If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at museums, 果冻影院's Grant Museum of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy is inviting adults and children to become a 'Curator for a Day' on 4 June 2005 from 10am to 4pm. Visitors will meet the people who prepare fossils, pickle animals and stuff skins, and learn all the tricks of the trade with fantastic demonstrations and hands-on activities at this special event.
Mr Ashby said: "We are bringing in taxidermists, palaeontologists and specimen conservators to do show people how to do the work, plus some fun activities based around life at the museum and its specimens."
The museum has also organised two talks on the history of evolution, which are more for an adult audience. 'Robert E. Grant, Lamark's Theory and Charles Darwin' will be held at 11.30am, while the fascinating history of 果冻影院's Grant Museum will be told at 2.30pm. Both talks will be held in the Biochemistry Lecture Theatre.
For the more artistically inclined, curators of the current Strang Print Room exhibition 'Slade Prints of the Fifties' will be presenting 'The Formative Fifties', a talk to compliment the on-going show of 果冻影院's Slade School of Fine Art students from the 1950s.
