¹û¶³Ó°Ôº

The ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science (JDI) has launched the Penny Willow Prize for the best dissertation written by a Crime Science MSc student.

The prize, of £100 per year, is in memory of Penny Willow Byrne. Penny was the daughter of JDI Visiting Professor Ken Pease's friend and collaborator, Assistant Chief Constable Simon Byrne of Merseyside Constabulary and his wife Sue. Penny sadly died from the recurrence of a brain tumour in February this year at the age of four, after spending much of her tragically short life under treatment.

Professor Pease said: "Penny was a very special, very bright little girl. She was a big fan of Batman and she loved the idea of her Dad chasing baddies. Even at a very young age she had a real interest in policing, so it is fitting to be giving a prize in crime science in her memory."
